I. M. Pei Ieoh Ming Pei (貝聿銘 pinyin Bèi Yùmíng) is a Chinese American architect born in Guangzhou, China on April 26, 1917. He studied architecture at MIT and Harvard. Pei, the last "master" of high modernist architecture, has been described as an architect who focuses on abstract form. He prefers materials such as stone, concrete, glass, and steel. While Pei is one of the most successful 20th century architects in the world, with numerous Swarovski landmark buildings and extensions to his name, his work has had little influence on architectural theory. 1961 - 1967 National Center for Atmospheric Research, in Boulder, Colorado, USA 1962 - Place Ville-Marie, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada 1964 - S.I.
