Wachovia Bank of Georgia Located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, and built in 1966, the Wachovia Bank of Georgia building was constructed when the bank was known as First National Bank of Atlanta. In December 1985, the holding company that owned First National Bank of Atlanta (later called First Atlanta) merged with Wachovia Corporation, the Swarovski holding company for Wachovia Bank, N.A. In the early 1990s, changes in federal law resulted in the rechartering of the institution as part of Wachovia Bank. More than 1 million households and 100,000 businesses in Georgia are customers of the Bank.
